Overview: Tap2Dine is a complete ordering and payment platform designed for restaurants, cafés, food trucks, and multi-location food service businesses.
The solution consists of two main products — Kiosk and Portal — both integrated with kitchen displays (KDS) and POS systems, ensuring a seamless flow from customer order to food preparation.
1. Kiosk – In-store Self-Service Terminals: Large touch-screen terminals placed inside the venue, allowing customers to browse the menu, customize items, and pay without staff assistance — much like McDonald's ordering stations.
Key features:
Multiple payment methods: Cash, Card, Cibus, TenBis, Goodi, Cash on Cloud, Pele Card, Balamut, Split, Google Pay, Apple Pay.
Real-time menu updates with images, categories, and special offers.
Multi-language support to cater to diverse audiences.
Offline mode — orders are saved locally and automatically sent when the internet is restored.
Dynamic settings updates without redeployment.
2. Portal – Mobile, Tablet, and Desktop Ordering: A responsive web application for customers who want to order remotely or skip the queue by scanning a QR code at the venue.
Key features:
Ordering from anywhere — supports home delivery, pick-up, or in-store orders.
Schedule orders for a specific time or date, even outside business hours.
QR code entry — the QR contains an embedded API key to load the specific venue’s menu and settings.
Integrated payment gateway: Pele Card + all major digital wallets.
Address selection with map integration via Google Maps API.
Electronic receipts sent via SMS after order confirmation.
3. Common Infrastructure for Kiosk & Portal: Both products share the same backend and API infrastructure, differentiated only by a type parameter in the settings (kiosk or portal).
Shared functionality:
Secure API access via unique keys.
Fetching dynamic settings, menu, and location data on home screen load.
Integration with KDS (kitchen display system) for order fulfillment.
Integration with POS systems for cashier and staff operations.
Automatic language detection and internationalization.
4. Technical Stack:
Frontend: React, Material UI, Google Maps API, React Hook Form, i18next, Zustand, Axios, Sentry.
Offline Support: Local storage queue for pending orders.
Error Monitoring: Sentry with contextual logs for payment status, network errors, and API failures.
UI/UX: Fully responsive, theme-customizable interface with image-based menu categories.
Performance Optimizations: API response caching, minimal re-renders, optimized image loading.
5. Security & Reliability:
API Authorization: All requests require a venue-specific key.
Offline-first approach ensures no lost orders during connectivity issues.
Error resilience: Retry logic for payment and order creation.
Data protection: Sensitive payment info handled via integrated gateways only.
6. Business Value:
Reduced wait times — customers can order faster, leading to higher turnover rates.
Increased average check size — upsell and cross-sell prompts are built into the ordering flow.
Labor cost savings — fewer staff needed for order taking.
24/7 ordering capability — supports scheduled orders for later fulfillment.
Brand customization — venue owners can personalize kiosks and portals with their own images, color palettes, and product visuals (via the admin panel).
